La Callera - Sept

The scullery is finally plumbed as is the new bathroom and top bedrooms. The balustrading is coming on but I am still waiting for some bits from the factory. ( The photo is pre balustrading)

All in all, things are coming on pretty well and I'm hoping that by the time I leave, phase one will be finished.

The weather has been mostly 'blue sky' with a couple of cloudy days with distant thunder storms. Yesterday, there was a real tropical downpour which lasted for an hour or so. It was a good chance to see if the patio drained properly and to note where the water went so that I can build a deposito in the right place.

La Calera

I arrived 0n the 31st Aug to find that Tom Fraser and Lulu, who have been staying at La Calera for 6 weeks on and off, were still here, which was very nice. They were very lively people and I was v pleased to meet them.

The house was in good order and they had managed to fix a couple of the slight leaks in the water system which I couldn’t be bothered with. The vines now shade most of the Old House patio and the collapsed vine is now doing well and shading the New patio as well.

My first job is going to be finishing the scullery which will then bring the new kitchen into full working order. I am hoping that Sima will return from the UK soon so that we can put up the balustrade round the patio ( a two man job). After that we will start on the new bathroom. When that’s done, it will be the end of phase one.
