Berg came out by himself mid june and met up with Sima (Simon) who was finishing the worktop walls. Berg then built the walls and shelves for the scullery which were still standing when we left. Miranda,Wenny and Myself came out 4 days later and we all got stuck in. The weather was blue sky thru out with temps ranging from 32 to 38 c which felt perfect altho there was one day of 40c. The nights were just cool enough to be comfortable if we were careful about keeping the heat out of the bedrooms. There were a few mossys about which unusually went for me not P so we will have to put window screens up in future. Mostly we just worked until 9 at night but we did go to a fiesta in Isnjar which was fun and we also spent a day at the lake which was very low, having a Barby. I suppose the biggest job was laying the patio. Berg built the retaining walls before he left and then we back filled with all the rocks that came out of the holes we had made for the new doors and window. The whole thing took 40 bags of cement, 3 tonnes of chippings, 4 tonnes of sand, two cement mixers and four of us a total of eight hours to lay. It all looked surprisingly big by the time we'd finished. We decided to go for slightly unusual entrance steps which hopefully will look OK by the time the balustrading goes up.
After three weeks of hard work we have put in the scullery shelves and window, plumbed, electricated and painted the kitchen, done the tiles on the steps to the sitting room, laid the new patio and entrance steps and had a really good time. Once we get the scullery plumbed in, the house should be properly viable and we can start to concentrate on the back of the old house (new bathroom etc). I'm thinking of going back out at the start of September if anyone fancys joining me.

This part of the patio has been christened "Titanic " because it feels as tho one is in the bow of a ship. there is also usually a cool wind here.

To celebrate the laying of the patio which was a pretty mighty job involving Simon, Mike, Chris and myself using two cement mixers we had a supper party to which the workers wifes came. M. spent all day preparing.
